Emily Valdez, CMHC

Hi! I’m Emily Valdez.

I have come to believe that presence in our environments and nervous system regulation are the keys to healing and wellness. I am passionate about the brain-body connection and have experience in somatic therapy and grounding techniques. My approach involves providing a safe and sacred space for you to regulate and rediscover your balance. I will meet you where you are and support you in meeting yourself there too.

Growing up on a farm and ranch in southern Colorado has allowed me to develop an admiration for the lessons nature, plants, and animals have to offer. I completed my Bachelor’s in Psychology and Pre-med from the University of Colorado. I explored multiple different paths including neuroscience research, healthcare, and case management, and realized I wanted to have more intimate and long-term interactions with people. I have certifications in addictions counseling in Colorado and Montana. I have experience working in community mental health in individual and group settings for those in recovery. I also have training and experience in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Sexuality Counseling, and working with the LGBTQIA+ community.  I am currently working on my Master's in Clinical Mental Health Counseling (CMHC) at Adam's State University and obtaining supervised hours as an intern here at Tooele Valley Counseling. I decided to obtain my degree in CMHC because I have been blessed by the opportunity to see true growth and healing that comes from intentional presence, time, active listening, and individual empowerment.
